The Scientific Stuff (how it actually works):
The coating utilizes silver and copper ions (which have been used since 4000 BC to kill bacteria) in a zeolite carrier to starve, sterilize, and suffocate microbes.
A zeolite carrier is a microporous, three-dimensional crystalline solid of aluminum silicate that’s been charged with ions of the active ingredient (silver and copper, in this case) Zeolites are naturally occurring and born of volcanic ash.
The antimicrobial effects are only released when needed in order to have the longest-lasting effects.

All samples were tested with K. pneumoniae, an organism that causes Pneumonia. All samples had the same organism count at zero contact time. “Washes” signifies the number of times the sample was washed to simulate real-world use. We’re proud that TigerTough seat covers are made in the USA. Since 2017, we’ve handled the process in-house and have streamlined how we do things to make the best seat covers on the market. We wanted to show you how this is done in our Minnesota factory and highlight the incredible team that makes each cover.

When we add seat covers to our inventory
Step 1: Measure
When we need to create a seat cover for a new vehicle or piece of heavy equipment, we need to bring that vehicle or seat into the shop. (It’s not always convenient squeezing a D7 Dozer in our space, so we just take the seats when it comes to heavy equipment.)
Each seat is measured and mapped by hand by our research and development team (R&D). We don’t work off of specs–we tried it once, and it wasn’t giving the custom fit we strive for. Nothing beats having the real thing in-house.
Step 2: Make a prototype
Creating a prototype of a seat cover.
Once we have accurate measurements and maps of a seat, the team creates a draft–or a sample–of the seat cover, and we try it on the seat.
At this point, we want to ensure it’s easy to install and has a good fit. Sometimes, you just get one or the other, so it’s an art to get a balance of fit and ease of installation.
Typically, two or three drafts are created before we’re happy with the sample and consider it a worthy prototype.
Step 3: Try it out
After a successful sample is made, we reinstall the seat back into the vehicle or piece of heavy equipment and make sure the cover is still easy to install. There might be a couple of tweaks to strap placement or the hook and loop, but these adjustments are relatively minor.
Step 4: Digitize the pattern
Digitizing a final pattern so that it can be reproduced.
Every seat cover is digitized in our CAD program once we’ve successfully made it. That way, we don’t have to remeasure a seat every time we get an order. Can you imagine the hassle that would be?
This entire process takes about one week for a truck with front and rear seats or three days for heavy equipment with a single seat.
Where do you source these trucks and heavy equipment?
Valid question! When a new model is rolled out of the factory, we know we will need to get our hands on one to create the new seat covers. So our truck models come from these sources:
For trucks
Local dealerships
We have great relationships with some of our local dealerships. They’ll give us a vehicle to borrow for a week while we map, measure, and make seat covers for that model.
OEMs
Manufacturers (like Toyota) will lend us a vehicle when a new model comes out so that we can get seat covers added to our inventory.
Customers
Sometimes, a local customer has a vehicle we don’t have seat covers for. So they’ll bring their vehicle in to get measured.
For heavy equipment
It’s less important for us to have the entire piece of equipment in-house than it is for us to have the seat when it comes to heavy equipment. So here’s how we do it:
Customers
In the off-season or when a piece of heavy equipment is being serviced, customers will send us the seats from the machines so we can map and make the cover for it.
We buy it
Yep, sometimes we buy just the seats. This is one of the fastest and easiest ways to get our hands on a heavy equipment seat and map a seat cover for it. You should see the surplus of seats we have in the warehouse.
Every seat cover is made to order (unless we happen to have that one in our limited stock already). Thankfully, we’ve digitized the pattern for the seat cover in our CAD program, so we can turn to that when a new order is placed.
Making seat covers when an order is placed
We’ve made hundreds of thousands of seat covers, but the process looks nearly identical for each one.
Step 1: The material gets cut
C&C machine cutting fabric to make a TigerTough seat cover for a customer.
We use a super cool C&C machine to cut the fabric. It compresses up to 20 sheets of material at a time and cuts them at once.
Once upon a time, each piece was cut by hand, but the C&C machine is a lot faster, and it reduces the amount of error. The machine cuts an exact replica of the pattern every time.
Step 2: It gets sewn
A person sews each TigerTough seat cover.
Every single seat cover is sewn by a human using an industrial sewing machine. There’s no machine that can sew a three-dimensional piece on its own–they just don’t exist. And that’s okay. We love knowing that someone right here in the U.S. is making seat covers for our customers.
If a customer chooses to add a seatback pocket on their seat cover, that gets added when the cover is being sewn.
Step 3: Inspection
Freshly inspected seat covers that are ready to be packaged.
Every cover gets inspected up against the physical sample we made earlier. If a cover doesn’t pass inspection, it will either get fixed or scrapped. We don’t let anything leave our hands that we’re not proud of. And we never sell second-quality or imperfect inventory.
Step 4 (optional): Embroidery

If a customer wants one or a thousand seat covers embroidered, that happens after the cover is sewn. Embroidery is one of the coolest things to watch. Each design has about 15,000-45,000 stitches, and each machine can do about 1000 stitches per minute. Each stitch is programmed for texture and color. Like we said, it’s a really cool process.

Step 5: Package and ship it
Covers ready to be shipped.
When a cover is good to go, it gets packaged with instructions specific to that exact vehicle or piece of heavy equipment. So, if you ordered seat covers for a 2016 Ford F-150, you’ll receive instructions on how to install the covers in a 2016 Ford F-150.
After packaging, the cover is sent off to its new home, which will protect a seat for the rest of its days.
We all know the drill: you check the engine, kick the tires (best of luck if you’re doing this with tracks), and if the price sounds right, you seal the deal.

How well does dog hair clean up?
Sadly, our seat covers don’t repel dog hair. We’re actually not sure of any covers on the market that do.
But we’re happy to report that dog hair easily vacuums up off the seat covers. We tested three tools to remove dog hair from the seat covers a standard vacuum cleaner, a Lily Brush, and a Furz-Off Stone. Out of all of them, the vacuum performed the best, and the fur came right off. You won’t need special tools.
Worst case scenario, you can easily remove the seat covers and toss them in the washing machine for ultimate cleanup.

Durability
We have yet to find a dog who can dig or chew its way through one of our seat covers. We can’t say it won’t happen, but until (if) it does, we’re considering them scratch-proof. No matter how much your dog digs, it won’t be able to dig through the cover. Heck, if a screwdriver can’t stab through a cover, we don’t think your dog has a chance of destroying these.

Dog-Friendly Seat Covers
We don’t make our seat covers with dogs in mind. Our covers fit like a glove on your captain/bucket seats and bench seats. We don't make pet hammocks or cargo liners (but if you are looking for cargo liners, we recommend Canvasback.) We make our seat covers for people first, but our covers are great for pets too.
If our covers can withstand concrete, coffee, gypsum, chainsaws, and weed-eaters, they can withstand the wear and tear of dogs and whatever other animals you happen to have riding shotgun.
But suppose your dog manages to dig with the ferocity of a first-time excavator operator and actually causes some damage. In that case, we have a two-year unconditional warranty and will happily replace those covers. And yes, we mean unconditional.

What color should I get?
When picking your color, consider the color of the dirt and dust that you usually deal with. Is it light? Is it dark? Black will hide more of the darker oil and grease. Gray is best for light-colored dust like drywall dust. Hunt much? Then maybe you'll go the camo route.
If you're not concerned about dirt, then first of all, we're jealous, but secondly, choose whatever color you'd like! We don't have anything flashy, but we'll have a color in our nearly indestructible CORDURA that goes well with your interior. We have: black, gray, tan, western viper, urban viper, snow conceal, and drt.

Keep in mind that some seat covers (heavy trucks, transit vans, law enforcement vehicles, etc.) don't come in the camouflage options right now.
Are they safe with heated/cooled seats?
Yes, they are! They are perfectly safe to use with heated/cooled seats. You won’t notice much of a difference with the heated seats. With the cooled seats, the cover will restrict most of the airflow.
Are they safe with my airbags?
Yes! If your airbag deploys (and we hope it doesn’t ), the cover will not restrict it. A lab-tested tearaway will cover any airbags.
Pretty waterproof. Water can’t get through the fabric, but a seam is perforated. All seams are perforated since sewing needles need to poke through the fabric to stitch the thread.
Look, you’re not gonna want to use them as a bucket if you can help it, but spills and liquid won’t penetrate the cover (remember it can get around the edges, though). We still recommend cleaning up liquid as quickly as possible.

How long until I get them?

How long do they take to install?
If you’ve never installed a set of our covers before, we guesstimate about 30-45 minutes to put on a front bucket set. Make sure and watch the install video and read our installation expectations, and it will go as smoothly as possible for you!
But if you've ever stepped foot onto a job site, we have full confidence you can install a seat cover in your vehicle.
What’s the warranty?
All of our covers have at least a two-year unconditional warranty (HEAVY has lifetime warranty). Unconditional means… unconditional. The warranty only applies to the original owner, covering all physical damage to the cover, no matter how it happened. (If your covers are stained, that just means that they’re doing their job! Although stains can be minimized by cleaning up spills right away.)

Yes! Our seat covers are scratch-proof and mess-proof. They'll withstand whatever your dog dreams of doing to them. Although we don't make our covers with dogs in mind, our customers love how our durable our covers are when it comes to their dogs.
Are they actually made in the U.S.A.?
Heck yeah, they are! Once upon a time, we tried making covers in Mexico. Although they were fine in quality and comparable to the ones made on U.S. soil, we decided to make all of our seat covers under the stars and stripes of Old Glory.
Do you make seat covers for my minivan?
Sorry, but we don't. It's not that we don't love minivan drivers, but we specialize in making seat covers that support blue-collar industries. And we want to be good at what we do, so we focus on trucks and heavy equipment to make the best seat covers for our customers.
